Where is The Exchange 1856?
We are located on the corner of Howard Street and Saville Street, right in the heart of North Shields Cultural Quarter.

Is there parking?
Howard Street is pedestrianised and can be used for drop off and collection only. There is a car park to the back of the building on Norfolk Street, which is free for two hours, after 5.30pm and all weekend. We are a five minute walk from North Shields Transport Hub and ten minutes from North Shields Ferry Landing. 

 

Are you an accessible venue? 
There is level access throughout the ground floor of the building including Brown's Bar and Kitchen, the courtyard and toilets. The stalls in the auditorium can be accessed via a ramp on Howard Street, please notify a member of staff if you require this option and it will be arranged. There is a unisex accessible toilet and baby change area on the ground floor. For all events there are two wheelchair spaces available and for standing events we have four low chairs. Should you require a chair, email hello@theexchange1856.com upon booking. All other bar furniture is first come first served. 

 

Do you offer concessions?
For certain performances we offer concessions to 

• Children under the age of 16

• Adults over 65

• Students in full-time education

Please refer to each event for clarification on concessions. 

Carers and Companions
The Exchange 1856 offers a limited number of free companion tickets on a first come first served basis. These are available by contacting us on 0191 432 1856.
 

Can I bring my baby to an event?
All persons watching a performance must purchase a ticket, including babes in arms. 

 

How can I book tickets?
We have lots of events coming up, the best way to book is online or alternatively you can pop down to the venue and book tickets from the bar.
 

How can I book a table?
You can book a table online here. 
 

Do you offer refunds?
We are unable to refund tickets after purchase unless the performance is cancelled or postponed. Any tickets purchased externally are subject to the terms and conditions of the seller.

Can I have a function at The Exchange 1856?
Of course! We welcome parties and celebrations. We have a variety of spaces available, please head to our Hire pages for more information.

I’m a promoter and I’d like to put on an event, is it possible?
